"My first practicum experience was with Heather, and I am grateful that I was able to be in this setting. It was very welcoming, and it was an atmosphere that allowed for positive growth and encouragement as I'm beginning my music therapy career. Heather is a wonderful and professional music therapist, and from observing her relationships with clients, I gained a strong basis for my therapy skills . I was also able to gain many direct contact hours with clients, and actively participate in sessions. From this experience I was also able to lead some parts of sessions with her clients. Each semester Heather also has a musical theater show that clients are all involved in. This is wonderful because everyone is involved and it gives families and friends a chance to come together and see the goals that the client has been working on." Katie Sanders ~ Saint Mary of the Woods College Music Therapy Student
"Heather offered me a great opportunity to hone my therapeutic skills as a music therapy practicum student. My supervisor was a skilled clinician, who pushed me to get out of my comfort zone. I would recommend them to any student looking to gain new skills and abilities that may be utilized in a variety of settings." Stephanie Huff, - Saint Mary of the Woods College Music Therapy Student
"Over the semester I had the opportunity to volunteer with Heather for my Lanugage Development class at IPFW. Through music therapy, I was able to learn a lot about atypical language development and how techniques like sign language and songs can facilitate language development in such a positive way! I was able to see the theories behind language development and I was also able to see the success of therapy. Being able to volunteer increased my knowledge abou the subect and my passion for the field!" Morgan Hardwick, - IPFW Psychology Student
