Drum circles provide a unique opportunity to work on a variety of skills such as motor, social, leisure, and cognitive while interacting in a social environment. Group sizes may range from three- forty depending on the needs of each group. Within each drum circle participants are taught basic drumming rhythms which are played together and individually.
From the very beginning, rhythm has been a part of our lives and is a central part of our well being. The rhythmic pulse of our mother's heartbeat offered a sense of peace and is a natural place for us to return to when seeking wellness and relaxation.
Our drum circles use the Christine Steven's approach to drum circles that look at the four areas of wellness: Silence, Harmony, Rhythm, and Melody which are integrated into the drum circle.
Participants will be taught a variety of basic drum patterns and cues before combining them in a drum circle format. Individuals do not need to know how to play a drum but have an interest in participating.
